A member of the prestigious United States First Circuit Court of Appeals, Judge Stahl graduated from Tufts College in 1952 and earned his law degree from Harvard University in 1955. He served as Manchester City Solicitor in 1975, as a member and chairman of the New Hampshire Bar Examiners from 1967 to 1974, and as member and chairman of the State Judicial Council from 1983 to 1990. Judge Stahl was nominated to the U.S. District Court by President George Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in April, 1990. He was nominated to the U.S. Court of Appeals and was confirmed by the Senate in June, 1992. He currently serves as chairman of the Federal courts' Committee on Security, Space, and Facilities. Judge Stahl and his wife Sue have two children and reside in Manchester.
